Our Story
From research to restoration: protecting Nigeria's vital ecosystems.
Biome Conserve Initiative is a youth-led registered non-profit environmental organization based in Delta State, Nigeria, dedicated to ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, and community-centered environmental sustainability. Established in 2021 by young environmental researchers and conservation advocates, the organization emerged from an undergraduate research project that assessed the aquatic ecology of the Ubeji Axis of the Warri River—an ecosystem increasingly threatened by pollution, habitat degradation, and biodiversity loss.
Since then, Biome Conserve Initiative has evolved into a platform that empowers young people to drive environmental action through science, innovation, and community engagement. We combine youth leadership, local stewardship, and evidence-based approaches to restore degraded ecosystems, promote sustainable livelihoods, strengthen environmental education, and support conservation outcomes across freshwater, coastal, and riverine landscapes.
Through collaborative partnerships with communities, schools, researchers, and development organizations, we are nurturing a new generation of environmental leaders while advancing practical solutions for ecosystem resilience and sustainable development.

Our Mission
To promote the conservation and sustainable management of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems through community engagement, environmental awareness, biodiversity protection, and sustainable restoration initiatives.
Our Vision
To build resilient ecosystems, sustainable food systems, and environmentally conscious communities through youth-led innovation, science-based conservation, and inclusive environmental action across Nigeria and Africa.
Our Core Focus Areas
Strategic priorities driving our conservation efforts.
Ecosystem Restoration
Restoring degraded freshwater, coastal, and riverine ecosystems through evidence-based interventions and habitat rehabilitation.
Biodiversity Conservation
Conserving ecological integrity and protecting indigenous species through direct conservation and sustainable management initiatives.
Environmental Education and Youth Empowerment
Empowering youth and communities through environmental awareness programs, education, and leadership development for conservation action.
Sustainable Livelihoods and Circular Economy Solutions
Supporting sustainable aquaculture, livelihood initiatives, and circular economy solutions that align with ecosystem recovery goals.
Community-Based Environmental Stewardship
Fostering local stewardship through collaborative partnerships with communities, schools, and stakeholders for long-term sustainability.
Climate Action and Ecosystem Resilience
Advancing climate action through pollution monitoring, ecosystem health assessments, and resilience-building strategies for vulnerable communities.
Our Restoration Approach
Building resilience through proven methodologies.
Local Participation
Emphasizing community involvement and ownership in all restoration initiatives.
Ecological Sustainability
Implementing science-based practices that protect ecosystem integrity and biodiversity.
Long-Term Resilience
Building sustainable solutions that strengthen community awareness and environmental stewardship.
Our restoration approach is tailored to address the specific environmental challenges facing vulnerable aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. We focus on degraded freshwater and coastal areas where pollution, unsustainable resource use, and habitat disturbance threaten biodiversity and community livelihoods.
By combining hands-on conservation activities with environmental education, restoration advocacy, and sustainable aquaculture concepts, we create pathways for ecosystem recovery while strengthening community awareness and sustainable livelihoods.
Community Engagement at Our Core
Empowering local action for environmental stewardship.
Community participation is central to everything we do. We believe that lasting environmental change comes from within communities—not imposed from outside.
We actively encourage the involvement of youth, local stakeholders, fishers, schools, and community members in environmental awareness, conservation activities, and restoration-focused initiatives.
